Buck Eejit - We Are Buck Eejit And This Is What We Do. Album
Crack open the Buckfast and crank up the volume 'cause the Eejits are here! Eight tracks of booze fuelled oi punk from the mean streets of Lisburn, delivered in true N. Irish punk style. Sounding like a cross between the Macc Lads and Runnin' Riot, Buck Eejit take the piss and put the boot in, in equal measure!
The album kicks off with an Oi-style cover of the Rezillo's cover of Someone's Gonna Get Their Head Kicked In Tonight. The band then big themselves up on the self-penned, tongue-in-cheek Best Punk Band In Town. This is followed by three more originals - Cameron (You Cunt) which takes a pop at David, 9-5 A&E a tale of a trip to accident and emergency, and then Terri Hooley a humorous tribute to the self-styled 'godfather' of N. Irish punk (this HAS to be released as a single!). A pretty straightforward cover of the Blitz classic Someone's Gonna Die is up next followed by another original When The Mornin' Comes - which, for me, is the stand out track on the album. If you're not hitting the repeat button and warbling along to the chorus, then there's something wrong with your head! This is pure punk rock! The album closes with a cover of the Exploited's Dead Cities, not one of my favourite songs, but you can't please all the people all the time! Buck Eejit put the fun back into punk. They enjoy the craic and a few bevvy's but don't be fooled 'cause these 'oul lads play a mean punk rock! Buck Eejit on Facebook |
