Adam Ant - The Blueblack Hussar Movie
(A Jack Bond film) 2013
Didn't even know the Adam Ant doc 'The Blueblack Hussar' was being screened in Belfast (11.9.13), until I read a comment by my pal, and big smoke renowned punk artist, 'Johnny Deluxe', which he had posted regarding the London premiere of the film the same evening.
So $$ & me had no choice other than to head down to the QFT for a peek.
The film is basically the fly on the wall story of Adam's return to the fray after a long and eventful lay off, via sojourns in 'Paris' and tiny rough and ready comeback gigs around London, through to his big stage triumph at 'Hyde Park Calling' during summer 2011.
As some of the puzzled punters here tonight found out "this ain't no Prince Charming Revue" lol. The movie doesn't take a linear story telling path, darting off willy nilly in tangents which can be a little confusing at times.
This doc is certainly not aimed at the mass market multiplex, its an art-house production which in my opinion will do really well on dvd, rather than putting actual fat arses on cinema seats.
We liked it, and the good news is there was a second show next evening (12.9.13) for anyone who missed this show.
Well worth checking out, I'll definitely be buying the hopefully extended blue ray version when its available.
Joe Donnelly Belfast 12.9.13.
